Brian Kersten Veterinarian, a dedicated veterinarian, has spent his career providing exceptional care to animals and making a difference in the lives of those in need. Born in Appleton, Wisconsin, and raised on a farm, his early connection with animals sparked his passion for veterinary medicine. With a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the University of Minnesota, his journey towards becoming a veterinarian began. Graduating with high distinction in 1977, he embarked on a path that led him to become a respected figure in the field of veterinary medicine.

Current Roles

Founder of Low-Cost Veterinary Clinic – Mercy Veterinary Service, Baldwin, WI. In 2021, he began a new endeavor by founding a low-cost veterinary clinic. He is the founder and owner of Mercy Veterinary Service in Baldwin, Wisconsin. This clinic serves clients who may struggle to afford routine veterinary care for their beloved pets. His dedication to ensuring that pets receive the care they need, regardless of financial constraints, is a testament to his compassionate nature. In this role, he continues to provide expert care to animals, specializing in small animal medicine and surgery, as well as veterinary dentistry. His commitment to improving the well-being of pets is evident in his daily work, earning the trust of clients and colleagues alike.

Relief Veterinarian in Amery WI

Alongside his other roles, Brian works as a relief veterinarian in Amery, Wisconsin. This allows him to provide his expertise and services to various veterinary practices as needed, further expanding his impact on animal welfare in the community.

Career History

After completing his undergraduate studies, he pursued his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, which he earned in 1983. He began his career in mixed animal practice in Burlington, Wisconsin, gaining valuable experience and knowledge.

In 1985, Brian made a significant career detour when he decided to serve in relief and development in Haiti for 2.5 years. During this time, he worked tirelessly to assist the rural poor of Haiti, demonstrating his commitment to animals and his dedication to improving the lives of people in need.

Upon returning to the United States in 1987, he entered a mixed animal practice in Baldwin, Wisconsin, where he purchased the course in 2001. His ownership of the method allowed him to provide top-notch care to animals in his community while serving as the President of the Pierce St. Croix Humane Society from 2001 to 2003.

2016 Brian made another career shift by selling his practice, but his passion for animal welfare remained undiminished. He continued to pursue his calling, founding a low-cost veterinary clinic in 2021 to support those who could not afford regular veterinary care for their pets.

Brian pursues various hobbies in his leisure time, including playing the guitar, gardening, reading, and exercising. His passion for the guitar began when he purchased a cheap guitar and started taking lessons. What he loves most about this hobby is the continuous room for improvement, which resonates with his commitment to lifelong learning and growth.
